The Ladies of Charity is the oldest organized, continuously functioning volunteer lay organization in the world, founded in 1617 by St. Vincent de Paul in Châtillon-les-Dombes, France. For over 400 years, this remarkable organization has been united by a single mission: "To serve rather than be served, in humility, simplicity, and charity."
From its humble beginnings in a small French village, the Ladies of Charity grew into a worldwide movement, now serving in over 49 countries with hundreds of thousands of volunteers dedicated to lifting up those in need.
Ladies of Charity – Northern Utah is proud to carry on this powerful legacy right here in our local community. As part of the Ladies of Charity of the United States of America (LCUSA), our members — women of faith, compassion, and action — come together to serve the poor and vulnerable in Utah, following in the footsteps of those who came before us for four centuries.
Whether through food assistance, clothing drives, outreach programs, or community partnerships, our volunteers give their time, talent, and hearts to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.
We are more than a volunteer organization — we are a sisterhood bound by faith and a shared calling to see the face of Christ in every person we serve.
